Stretched sooner than expected (A4 B8)
Went on my A4 B8 2.5 TFSI at 126k miles. It developed a light rattle again far sooner than a timing job should need redoing. Disappointing for the price.

Good part, order the water pump too
Cross-referenced the OE number against my 2020 Q7 4M before ordering. A weekend job with the right locking kit and a service manual open next to me. The chain has proper hardened links rather than the soft pins on cheap copies. On balance the engine is noticeably quieter at idle than it has been for a year. Fine for the money, with that one caveat.

Went on my A5 8T 3.0 TDI V6 at 78k miles. It developed a light rattle again far sooner than a timing job should need redoing. Disappointing for the price.

Stretched sooner than expected (Q7 4M)
Fitted to my 2023 Q7 4M. It developed a light rattle again far sooner than a timing job should need redoing. I did the water pump and rollers at the same time since the front was already off. Expected better given the cost.

Rattle on start-up gone

A weekend job with the right locking kit and a service manual open next to me. Result is timing has held perfectly through 12,000 miles since fitting. Good value against the dealer price.

I booked it in with a specialist rather than risk an interference engine on the driveway. Result is the top-end rattle on cold start has completely gone. Exactly what I needed.

Correct kit, no surprises
My Q7 4M needed this doing at 129k miles. The tooth profile and belt width are indistinguishable from the part that came off. Locking tools on, marks aligned, and it timed up exactly where it should. Result is the top-end rattle on cold start has completely gone. Would order again without hesitation.
