Fine, but get an alignment after
My A4 B8.5 needed this doing at 45k miles. I fitted both sides together as you should, then had it aligned the same week. The paint and plating look like they will survive a few winters of salt. On balance the clonk over speed bumps that started this job has completely gone. Fine for the money, with that one caveat.

Ride is composed again
Cross-referenced the OE number against my 2005 A4 B7 before ordering. Damping is progressive when you compress it by hand, not dead at the top of the stroke. I torqued everything at ride height rather than with the suspension hanging. Result is the car no longer floats over crests and settles in one movement. Will be back for the other side.

Night and day difference
My Q7 4M needed this doing at 88k miles. Spring compressors out and the strut rebuilt on the bench in an afternoon. The rod is properly finished with no machining marks and the seal is clean. Result is the clonk over speed bumps that started this job has completely gone.

Correct damping rate
Bought for a 2012 A4 B8.5. The garage did the pair and the alignment came back within spec straight away. The paint and plating look like they will survive a few winters of salt. Result is body roll through roundabouts is properly controlled again. Delivery was quick too.

Car feels new again
Second one of these I have bought, this time for the Q3 8U. Damping is progressive when you compress it by hand, not dead at the top of the stroke. I torqued everything at ride height rather than with the suspension hanging. Result is the car no longer floats over crests and settles in one movement. Delivery was quick too.

Well damped, not harsh
Bought for a 2016 TT 8S. Spring compressors out and the strut rebuilt on the bench in an afternoon. Damping is progressive when you compress it by hand, not dead at the top of the stroke. Result is it tracks straight on the motorway instead of wandering. Cannot fault it.

Crashing over potholes has stopped
Cross-referenced the OE number against my 2016 A1 8X before ordering. The weight matches the original almost exactly, which the cheap ones never do. The garage did the pair and the alignment came back within spec straight away. Result is the clonk over speed bumps that started this job has completely gone. No complaints at all.
